Photo Day

All you need is your camera and the printed cards. Photograph the card, photograph the child, next card. Matching happens by itself later when uploading.

The guide in the dashboard

In the job flow, step 3 “Photograph” opens this guide with animated scenes. The five steps:

Print photo cards. Take them along in list order, a clipboard helps. Or show the card on the phone in the app.

Photograph the card first. Fill the frame, flat, sharp. This one photo tells the system: from here on everything belongs to this child.

Then take the shots. As many as you like. Everything until the next card is matched automatically.

Continue with the next card. Card, photos, card, photos. Do not change the order of the shots.

Upload. The rest is automatic. Anything unclear lands safely in the review.

The rules

Five rules that make every photo day safe.

Order is everything

The system sorts by the camera's capture time, and by filename if that is missing. Shooting with several cameras? Upload each camera separately. Do not rename or mix files before.

Group card before the group photo

The dark group card comes first. All photos after it belong to the whole group and appear in every child gallery of that group. Until the next child card.

Siblings

Photograph only one card. Parents combine the access codes in the shop and see both children in one gallery.

Card quality

Keep the card flat, evenly lit, in focus. The QR code should fill at least 15% of the frame. Blurry or too small cards end up in the review.

Foreign QR codes do not interfere

A poster or T-shirt with a QR code in the background opens no new section. Only Pixalo cards count. Two cards in the same frame? The larger one wins and the photo gets a note in the review.

No card at the set

Forgot a card, or a child who was not on the list? Three ways.

Spare cards

Print a few spare cards beforehand. Write the name by hand on photo day, add it later in the child list.

Card on the phone

With the Pixalo app you show a child's card full screen and photograph the display. Same effect as paper.

Assign later

Photos without a card land under Unassigned. In the review you assign them to a child with two clicks.

Bag checklist

Printed photo cards, sorted by group, plus spare cards.

Child list on paper or on the phone as a check.

Check the camera clock. Not required, but helpful with several cameras.

Enough memory cards. Card photos take hardly any space.

Photo day over. Now upload.

Memory card into the computer, load all photos into the job. Matching starts by itself.
