Upload photos

All photos from picture day come into the job through one page. The upload keeps running in the background while you work. Then Pixalo matches every photo using the cards.

At a glance

  • One upload per camera. Do not rename or mix files.
  • Before the start, Pixalo checks whether your storage is enough.
  • An interrupted upload continues where it stopped.
1

The upload page

You reach it via the Upload event photos step in the job’s workflow or via Shoot finished, upload photos in the picture day instructions.

  1. 1QR card matching: photos are matched using the photographed cards. Do not change the order.
  2. 2Drop area: drag photos in or click and select. Several files at once.

Formats

JPEG and PNG. Folders cannot be dropped. Open the folder and select all files (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A).

Each camera separately

Two cameras, two uploads. That way the order per camera is kept and the cards separate correctly.

Check the selection and start

After selecting, the page shows each photo with a preview, the number of photos, the total size and the free storage after the upload. Remove all starts over. The green button starts the upload.

If storage is not enough

Then the upload does not start. The page shows how much is available and how much is missing. Keep what fits trims the selection to what fits. Expand storage takes you to your subscription.

Do not change file names

If a photo lacks the capture time, Pixalo sorts by file name. Renamed or mixed files mess up the order.

During the upload

The upload belongs to the dashboard, not to the page. A window with the progress appears at the bottom right. It stays visible when you switch pages.

Progress

Uploaded of total, time left and errors. Several files run in parallel. Pixalo retries errors automatically.

Pause and resume

At any time. If the connection drops, the upload waits and continues by itself when the network is back.

Cancel

Photos already uploaded are kept. The rest is discarded and not reported as missing later.

Do not reload the page

Reloading or closing the tab cancels running uploads. The window warns you. Switching between dashboard pages is fine.

Interrupted upload

Browser crashed or laptop closed? The next time you open the upload page, a notice shows how many photos are missing.

  1. 1Click Repeat selection and select the same files again.
  2. 2Pixalo compares the file names and uploads only the missing photos. What is already uploaded stays.
  3. Or Discard: the started photos are removed and the job stays clean.

What happens in the background

Photos that arrived but were not confirmed are picked up automatically when the page opens. Leftovers that never arrived are cleaned up by the system.

After the upload

Once everything is up, the page shows the matching status.

  • Processing: every photo gets previews and is checked for a card. Then Pixalo matches the whole job. This takes a few minutes.
  • Matching complete: the number of matched and, in red, unsorted photos. Go to review opens QR matching.
  • Several uploads: into the same job run one after another. Even two browser tabs do not get in each other's way.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload RAW files?

No. Upload the finished JPEG or PNG files. The order of your camera is usually kept on export.

How large may the photos be?

Upload full resolution. Pixalo creates watermarked previews from it. Only someone who buys a file gets the original.

Can I add more photos later?

Yes, at any time. Pixalo then matches the whole job again. What you matched by hand stays as it is.

Do parents see the photos right away?

Only if the sale is already running and the photos are matched. Parents never see unsorted photos.
